I think that a modern day Beowulf would be a combination of
our parents. They may not go out and kill monsters like Grendel but I’m pretty
sure that if they had to they would. Because our parents would do anything for
us. To us, our parents represent the one thing that will always be there to
save us from anything and everything. In the story, that’s what Beowulf is. The
one that will be there to help and in the moment that he was needed most, he
proved himself worthy. In my situation,
my parents stand up for God, family, and the country from which they came from.
To me, they sound a whole lot like Beowulf. They may not have superhuman
strength but they’ll always be heroes to me. And I hope that your parents will forever be your heroes as well.
I like how you bring your own perspective and support your idea with that. I agree with you because our parents are like our Beowulfs' because they will protect us from whatever harm comes our way.
ReplyDeleteHi Jenny,
ReplyDeleteI did not even think about our parents as a possibility to being a modern day Beowulf. Coming from similar backgrounds, it is true that my parents would also do anything if it meant protecting us. They also deeply believe in standing up for their country, God, and especially their family.
Sup Jenny
ReplyDeleteI really like yours cause it's a much more refreshing conversation than the story itself and the analyses I write about it. I completely agree with you on this. Beowulf believes its his job to protect the people of the world and to defeat evil at any cost, similar as to how a parent would do anything for their child, even fight a dragon or a monster. I think you made a great analogy.
