Gobble Gobble Gobble
So many things to be thankful for on this thanksgiving. Family and friends. Some friendships an last a lifetime and some end sooner than we could ever imagine. This past year has been filled with loss. I cherish the memories that I had with my old friends but I also cherish the new friendships that I've been able to make. This thanksgiving I want to give thanks for having a new friend like Kamari. She is a great person, especially funny, and I'm grateful for being given the opportunity to meet her and be able to be her friend.

"Then He Is Dead"
I think that it all comes down to the question: What is money worth?
Is it worth your family, your partner, your friend? How far would you go to be able to grasp your most unreachable desires? Would you kill? Macbeth obviously saw that as the only way out. Everything he did was completely unnecessary. He had what other people would kill for but the greed got to him bad. In my opinion Macbeth lacked love and the quality of loyalty. He was neither loyal to Duncan nor Banquo. And if he had really loved his wife then he would've paid more attention to how she was feeling. In the end he died being unhappy. Point is, money can't buy you happiness. It's better to be rich with happiness.

From crown to the toe, top-full of direst cruelty
I'm not sure what Shakespeare wanted to show us or wanted us to get from the her soliloquy but I can pretty much tell that Lady M is trying to be the man in the relationship. She's the one making the decisions, planning it out, and giving the orders. In the quote shown above, it shows that when planning the murder, she doesn't even mind being cruel. Most women aren't known for having that personality, much less taking the initiative to plan something so malevolent.

No New Tale To Tell
Radix Malorum Est
Cupiditas
Greed is the Root of
all Evil.
I think that greed is
indeed the root of all evil. Whatever something is, it can be traced back to
greed. Greed is one of the 7 deadly sins because you shouldn't want more than
what you already have.
Greed is the desire for
material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called
Avarice or Covetousness.
Pride is excessive
belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's
recognition of the grace of God.
Envy is the desire for
others' traits, status, abilities, or situation.
Gluttony is an
inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.
Lust is an inordinate
craving for the pleasures of the body.
Anger is manifested in
the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as
Wrath.
Sloth is the avoidance
of physical or spiritual work.
Even each of the other
Deadly sins begin with greed. Wanting too much or simply wanting something you
can't have is the biggest sin of all. Instead of greed, people should simply be
ambitious.
Today, greed can be
seen a lot in politics. A lot of politicians are willing to do anything to make
more money "the easy way." Even back to when our government first
started greed was rising. People say that you shouldn't mix politics with religion
but i honestly think that if the world was religious as a whole, ii'd be a lot
closer to a Utopia.
In the Pardoner's Tale,
their greediness is inviting Death, and when death comes, you can't cheat it.

Truth
Would it be paradise living in a life filled with truth?
Or would it be hell?
What is the truth? The opposite of a lie? Or is a lie the truth?
Whether we like it or not, we won't know whether some things are true or not. And for the most part, the truth that we do get will never be completely honest or correct. In the story, the shape shifter tries to tell us that there is good and evil in the world. Does he know which is which? Do we? We'll never know. We can try as much as we want to but the truth is something that we'll always ponder upon. Is Grendel a monster or a mere victim? My truth could be someone else's lie. In my opinion Grendel is a victim that doesn't know how to handle things and ends up making matters worse. But does that give Beowulf the right to take his life? I think not. The only truth here is that there are two sides to everything, and it's always difficult to be Switzerland.

Modern Day Beowulf(s)
I think that a modern day Beowulf would be a combination of
our parents. They may not go out and kill monsters like Grendel but I’m pretty
sure that if they had to they would. Because our parents would do anything for
us. To us, our parents represent the one thing that will always be there to
save us from anything and everything. In the story, that’s what Beowulf is. The
one that will be there to help and in the moment that he was needed most, he
proved himself worthy. In my situation,
my parents stand up for God, family, and the country from which they came from.
To me, they sound a whole lot like Beowulf. They may not have superhuman
strength but they’ll always be heroes to me. And I hope that your parents will forever be your heroes as well.

"Me"
In my opinion, no one knows who they are.
We write things we like to hear. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a negative person but come on, we're all teenagers, we don't know who we are. We think we know who we are, which is the first step.
I shall divide this blog into three sections. The first will be the past me, the second will be the present me, and the third will be the future me.
Past Me
I was always picked on because I always got straight A's and wore glasses. Not the best point in my life. I was the best student in my class and when I was in 6th grade i applied to Whitney Young. I made it in. I was proud but that was the worst decision I've ever made. (In my opinion) I wasn't ready for high school. My grades dropped, teachers disliked me for the first time ever, and I hung out with the wrong people. That was up until the end of freshman year.
Present Me
I am trying to get back and get my grades up. Make the best out of high school with the right kind of friends.
The basics of my present life:
- i am mexican, 15, sophomore
-Thankfully I have both my parents. 1 sister named Yosselin and a brother named Freddy. And the baby of my house is my chihuahua BonBon <3
- I AM A HORRIBLE PUBLIC SPEAKER
-love volleyball & soccer
-black and pink are my colors
-favorite subject is english
-love dancing
-a day doesn't go by that I don't listen to music
-i love horror movies even though my favorite movies are the lord of the rings and the twilight saga
-my favorite book so far has been Hate List by Jennifer Brown
-i love to write (i used to be a better writer)
-for me it's God > everything. I'm a good catholic and I'm training to be a catechist
-love to spend my time with friends
-Katie Ortiz has been my best friend since kindergarten. we went to elementary school together and came to Whitney Young together.
- a little too nice to people
- hate drama
- i believe that ignorance, for the most part, is bliss
- i just keep swimming like Dory
Future Me
- a successful teacher. successful in the sense that i've made a difference in kids' lives
- i will travel the world
- still be best friends with Katie
- be a catechist
- have a golden retriever (:
- have a minor in dancing
- attend northwestern university
- be a really good photographer
Then again i won't know what the future holds but here's an idea of who i was, who i think i am, and i want to be.
